Abdominoplasty removes loose skin and excess fat from the lower and/or upper abdomen and repairs stretched or separated rectus muscles (diastasis recti) - often as a result of pregnancy, creating a flatter, firmer midsection. A low horizontal scar is hidden inside the underwear or bikini line, and the belly button is usually repositioned. Variations include mini, full, extended and circumferential tummy tucks tailored to the amount of skin excess and whether the patient has experienced major weight loss.
