Aesthetic and functional procedures of the breast and chest

    Breast Augmentation

Breast augmentation enhances size, shape and symmetry using silicone gel implants placed either beneath the breast tissue (sub-glandular) or beneath the chest muscle (sub-muscular/dual-plane). Incisions are commonly placed in the inframammary fold, around the areola or in the armpit, and implants come in a range of profiles, projections and shapes. Fat transfer is an alternative or complement for modest enlargement using your own tissue.

    Breast Reduction (Reduction Mammoplasty)

Breast reduction removes excess breast tissue, fat and skin to create lighter, better-proportioned breasts and relieve symptoms such as back, neck and shoulder pain, bra-strap grooving, posture problems and skin irritation under the breasts. Common techniques include the inverted-T (Wise) pattern or vertical (lollipop) pattern, with the nipple preserved on a pedicle of tissue to maintain blood supply and, in many cases, breastfeeding potential and sensation. It is a procedure that is frequently both cosmetic and functional in nature.

    Breast Lift (Mastopexy)

A breast lift raises and reshapes sagging breasts by removing excess skin, tightening the underlying tissue and repositioning the nipple-areola complex to a higher, more youthful position. The scar pattern ranges from a simple circular scar around the nipple-areola complex for mild sagging, to a lollipop or anchor scar for more significant sagging. Mastopexy can be performed alone or combined with breast augmentation for both lift and added volume.

    Gynaecomastia (Male Breast Reduction)

Gynaecomastia surgery removes excess glandular tissue, fat and, where necessary, loose skin from the male chest to produce a flatter, more masculine chesr. Mild cases may be treated with liposuction alone through small stab incisions, while cases with significant breast tissue require direct excision via a small peri-areolar (around the nipple) incision, often combined with liposuction. Severe or post-weight-loss cases may need skin excision and nipple repositioning for the best result.

Nipple / Areola Correction - Reduction or Inverted

These procedures address nipple or areola size, shape or inversion that patients find cosmetically bothersome or functionally limiting. Nipple reduction removes a small strip or wedge of tissue to shorten projection; areolar reduction removes a ring of surrounding skin to narrow the diameter of the areola; and inverted nipple correction releases the short milk ducts that tether the nipple inward. Duct-preserving techniques can maintain breastfeeding potential in appropriate patients.

    Tuberous Breast Deformity

Tuberous breast deformity is a developmental variation characterised by a constricted breast base, high inframammary fold, narrow footprint and herniation of breast tissue into an enlarged areola. Many women with tuberous breasts might not even be aware of theri diagnosis, it is often incidentally diagnosed when a patient consults for a breast augmentation of lift. Correction involves surgically releasing the constricting tissue, lowering the fold, reducing the areola and restoring volume with an implant, fat transfer or both. Severe cases may need staged expansion first to allow the skin envelope to accommodate implants safely.

    Breast Asymmetry Correction

Asymmetry correction addresses significant differences between the breasts in size, shape or position using a personalised combination of augmentation, reduction, lift, fat transfer or different-sized implants. Correction may be cosmetic, or reconstructive after cancer treatment or congenital breast deformity. The goal is breasts that are well matched in everyday clothing, bras and swimwear rather than perfectly identical, as even natural breasts are never truly symmetrical.

    Implant Revision / Removal

Implant revision and "explant" surgery are performed for a variety of implant complications, including: capsular contracture, rupture, malposition, rippling, size change, Breast Implant Illness concerns or patient preference. Techniques range from simple implant exchange to partial or complete capsulectomy (removal of the implant capsule), en bloc resection (removal of implant and capsule as a single unit), pocket revision and the addition of a simultaneous breast lift (mastopexy) to address residual skin laxity.
