Chin augmentation improves facial balance and profile by enhancing the projection, width or height of the chin. It can be performed with a silicone or porous implant placed through a small intra-oral or sub-mental incision, or as a sliding genioplasty in which the chin bone itself is repositioned. The procedure is particularly effective for a weak or recessed chin and is often combined with rhinoplasty or neck liposuction for comprehensive mid and lower-face harmony.
