Calf augmentation enhances the shape and size of the lower leg using silicone calf implants placed through a small incision behind the knee, or through fat transfer. It is used cosmetically for patients with very slim calves that do not respond to exercise and reconstructively after muscle wasting, from various causes. Implants provide permanent, predictable volume, while fat grafting gives a softer, more natural contour with some resorption.
